Mr. Ralph E. Everill, 76, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, IN.
He was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Woodstock, IL, to Kelsey and Ruth (Padgett) Everill.
Ralph worked in security for Whirlpool, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a United Methodist Church lay leader. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during peacetime on the USS Yorktown. He was a member of the American Legion of New Carlisle and a LaPorte County Lake Patrol member. He was a volunteer chaplain for LaPorte Hospital. Ralph enjoyed photography and spending time with his “coffee buddies.” He especially enjoyed traveling the world and went on five cruises with his wife.
On Oct. 10, 1959, in Rolling Prairie, he married Myrna (Hunt) Everill, who survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Cheri (David) Ringer of Plymouth, IN, Linnaea (John) Arford of Fort Wayne, IN, and Pamela (Kevin) Dixon of New Carlisle, IN; three grandchildren, Lisa Tucker of Rolling Prairie, Ainee Ringer of Plymouth and Mackenzie Arford of Fort Wayne; and brother, Bill Everill of Jacksonville, FL.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Everill; and three grandchildren, Madelyn Arford, Angela Tucker and Jonathan Tucker.
A memorial service will be held at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Debbie K. Beason officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place in Rolling Prairie Cemetery at a later date. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
