Mary Lou (Chambers) Cox, 77, of Michigan City, IN, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Valparaiso, IN, on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
Mary was born in Michigan City on May 27, 1936, to Guy and Rose (Wozinak) Chambers.
Mary was a retired school bus driver for the Michigan City School System. She was a leader for the Girl Scouts of America. She collected music boxes and loved to crochet.
On Feb. 12, 1954, she married Nathan Luna Cox Jr., who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Nathan Cox; brothers, Gene (Wanita) Chambers and Robert Chambers; and son-in-law, Warren Stueck Jr.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Katherine (Bill) Raschka of Michigan City, Debra (Roy) Privoznik of Michigan City and Colleen (Stephen) Letnich of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Genevieve (John) Waldron, Timothy (Lisa) Human, Victoria Rae Letnich, Nathan Robert Letnich, and Lilly Ann Letnich; great-grandchildren, Alexis Human, Kaige Kintzele, Jaxson Human, Mary Mae Waldron, Brandon Waldron, and Rebecca Waldron; brothers, Larry (Paula) Chambers, Jerry (Cay) Chambers and Terry Chambers; and sister, Linda (Richard) Hyska.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City.
