It’s time to print out some of those beauties hiding in your cameras. The LaPorte County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, is again sponsoring a photo contest.
Your photo must be of a historic structure at least 50 years old in LaPorte County. The photo should be current — taken within the last two years. It can be black and white or color, and must be 8”x10”. Submitted photos do not have to be matted; the three winning images will be matted to be sent to the state contest.

For a complete list of guidelines as well as an application, come to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum, 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte. Or visit www.laportecountyhistory.org and one will be sent to you. A filled out application must accompany each entry.
A panel consisting of a preservationist, a photographer and an artist will judge the photos. Anyone under 18 years of age must have a signature of a parent or guardian. Trophies will be given. The photos will be part of a temporary display at the museum and will become the property of the historical society. Winning photos will be sent to Indianapolis to compete at the state level and will become the property of the Indiana DNR.
Think outside the box! Look through the photos you have taken over the past two years and see what gems you may have shot! Structures, railroad trestles, bridges and more built before 1964 are all eligible.
