The whole familys is invited to join in the 11th annual LaPorte County Family YMCA 10k run & 5K run/walk on Saturday, March 22, at Soldiers Memorial Park in LaPorte. This event is a Calumet Region Striders Gold Cup Series Race.
All race proceeds will benefit the Y’s annual campaign, which enables the organization to reach out to children, adults and families who need it most. Hundreds of people in LaPorte County receive financial assistance to participate in programs and opportunities to grow in spirit, mind and body.
Here’s the schedule:
7:20-8:50 a.m. – Registration and packet pick-up
9 a.m. – 10k run begins
9:15 a.m. – 5k run/walk begins
The course starts near Stone Lake Beach and takes you past Pine Lake, though scenic LaPorte County and back through Soldiers Memorial Park. The 10k and 5k have separate start lines, but both races finish at Cummings Lodge. Please plan to arrive early.
Awards will be given for top overall male and female finishers and top overall Masters (over age 40) male and female finisher in both races. Male and female age-group awards will be given to the first three finishers in the following age groups in both races (unless noted): 8-and-under (5K only), 9-10 (5K only), 11-12 (5K only), 13-14 (5K only), 14-and-under (10K only), 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80-and-over.
Entry fee for the 10k run is $20 (with T-shirt) if done by March 15 and $17 (without T-shirt) if done by March 15. Entry is $25 after March 15.
Entry fee for the 5k run/walk is $18 (with T-shirt) by March 15 and $15 (without T-shirt) by March 15. Entry after March 15 is $23.
