Homespun Harmony Extension Homemaker Club met Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Marcia Wolff’s home. Wolff called the meeting to order with 13 members and one guest present. Roll calls was answered with “What was the name of your first love?”
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Peggy Grzesiowski made a motion to continue with sponsoring the two 4-H awards. Betty Carpenter seconded; motion passed.
New Business – No district nominations yet for the 1st timer award at state conference in June; deadline is March 8. Other awards will be an “I want to go again” award and a county 1st timer award. The International Fare will be held May 3 at the county Extension Office. Taste of Extension Homemakers will be held Oct. 16 at the Community Building at the fairgrounds; theme will be herbs; Homespun Harmony will be assisting Hesston Homemakers with this project. The club will elect officers at the next meeting, as well as choose committee preferences for the next program year. A jar was passed around for coins for cancer research. The council meeting will be held March 3 at 6 p.m. at the Extension Office and the next Education Retreat will be held March 19 at 3 p.m. at the Extension Office. The spring district meeting will be March 26 in Kosciusko County; registration is ASAP for those interested.
Final plans were made for the breakfast the club is serving for the annual meetings of the SWCD and Row Crop Boards on Saturday, March 1, at the Extension Office. Menu: sausage egg casserole, biscuits & gravy, cinnamon rolls, scones, fruit salad, coffee, juice, milk & hot chocolate. Everyone signed up to bring something. We will meet at the Extension Office at 6:30 a.m. prepare food to be ready to serve between 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
The next Homespun meeting is March 20 at 6 p.m. at Brentwood, with dinner.
