
Lake Michigan’s ice shelf and the beach’s blowing sand provide a dramatic scene for an invigorating walk along the beach.

There was nary a bikini in sight, but sunshine and at least tolerable temps brought out some brave souls to stroll the sand and snow at Michigan City’s Washington Park on a recent mid-March day. Bob Wellinski was among them as he took these photos of folks shaking off a little pent-up cabin fever.
“Visitors didn’t seem too bothered by sand being blown by winds gusting near 30 mph,” Bob said.
