Indiana Astronaut Jerry Ross will be speaking at New Directions, a monthly community resource event held in the Family Life Center of Bethany Lutheran Church in LaPorte, on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. The community is welcome to hear Ross speak at this free event.
Ross recently learned that he will soon be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame. He was the first person to launch from earth into space seven times. Logging nearly 1,400 hours in orbit, including 58 hours and 18 minutes during nine spacewalks, Ross’s seven-spaceflight total is a record he now shares with only one other astronaut, and his number of spacewalks as well as the time spent on those spacewalks both rank as the second-highest among NASA astronauts and third-longest among spacewalkers worldwide.
Copies of his new book, “Spacewalker,” will be available with a chance to have it signed by the author.
The church is located at 102 G St.
