READ LaPorte County Inc. is looking for volunteer tutors for adults and children to help them increase their reading, math, English and digital literacy skills. A free tutor training will be held Saturday, April 26, in the large meeting room at LaPorte County Public Library.
A session on tutoring adults who speak English will begin at 10 a.m. A complimentary lunch will be served. A session on tutoring adults who spoke a language other than English first will end the day. It will conclude by 2 p.m. People may attend either or both sessions.
Current tutors, people who wish to be tutors, and people who just want to know what tutoring might be like are invited to come. The only requirements are a love of reading and willingness to help others. A college degree, teaching experience, or ability to speak another language is not necessary.
To register, please contact Mary Hedge at 325-0875 or mhedge8@comcast.net. Registrations are necessary in order to guarantee materials and a meal for you.
