All community members are invited to come to IU Health LaPorte Hospital Family Chapel on Friday, April 4, to hear musician Sheila Thompson.
Thompson’s performance, free to the public, will begin at noon as the April presentation of the First Friday in the Chapel series.
Thompson grew up in a musical family. With her mom as a church organist, singing and playing piano were part of life. In her teen years, Sheila added guitar to her list of instruments, playing in the church folk choir. Later, she and her husband Bob would play talent shows with Bob on the banjo and Sheila on the guitar. As they raised their three children, they instilled in their family a love of music and giving, often playing for school programs, nursing homes and local festivals. Her favorite times are when their now adult children get together and have jam sessions.
Sheila recently retired from IU Health LaPorte Physicians after 11 years to pursue her passion for music. She teaches piano, guitar and hammered dulcimer, serves on the worship team at church, performs with her husband at local festivals, and ministers to those who find comfort in music.
