Footlight players of Michigan City will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Lost in Yonkers” on April 4-6 and 10-13.

Directed by Christopher Whybrew and assistant Eric Helmken, the play is set in Yonkers, NY, in 1942. Bella (Emily Chidalek) is 35, mentally challenged and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz (Marianne LaRiccia). As the play opens, ne’er do-well son Eddie (John Avila) deposits his two young sons Jay (Alex Britzke) and Artie (Michael Stantz) on the old lady’s doorstep. He is financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with Grandma, with Bella and her secret romance, and with Louie (Alexander Bonner), her brother, a small-time hoodlum in a strange new world called Yonkers.

Tickets are $12 for adults ($10 on Thursdays) and $10 for ages 12 and under. Curtain is at 8 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Doors open 45 minutes prior to curtain. Reservations are recommended and may be made at 219-874-4035 or www.footlightplayers.org. Footlight Theatre is located at 1705 Franklin St., Michigan City.

Also, Footlight is asking patrons to donate non-perishable food items at the box office on the “Lost in Yonkers” show dates. The box office is open Fridays and Saturdays from 6-8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 2 p.m.
