Trio Voronezh will perform Sunday, April 6, as part of the LaPorte Community Concert series. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at the LaPorte High School Auditorium.
Through its virtuosity and innovation, Trio Voronezh has the ability to alter the way audiences experience classical, folk and contemporary repertoire. Discovered playing Bach in a Frankfurt, Germany subway station, Trio Voronezh has since made several tours of the United States and earned audience and critical praise. Classically trained at the Conservatory in Voronezh, Russia, these three musicians formed in 1993 in their hometown. They play traditional Russian folk instruments — double-bass balalaika, domra and bajan. They now reside in Washington state, USA.
This program is sponsored by the LaPorte Community Concert Association and is included in the season ticket. The public may purchase tickets at the door. Cost is $15 for adults and $5 for students through high school. For more information, call 219-362-5292.
