Mr. Frank W. Lile Sr., 59, of LaPorte, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in LaPorte.
He was born Nov. 10, 1954, in Knox, IN.
Frank owned and operated Lile’s Auto Clinic for 27 years. He was active in Lile Racing #93 at the South Bend Motor Speedway, Plymouth Speedway and New Paris Speedway. He was involved in ASA Racing as a crew member for Tony Raines. Frank re-established Lile Racing with his son Frankie driving Car #94; he was crew chief and mechanic and they won three championships in a row in 1998, 1999 and 2000 at the South Bend Speedway. He was working with Mike Freese with his racing career. Frank was heavily involved in cycling and had run in 26 marathons. He really enjoyed walking along the beaches in Florida.
On April 15, 1978, in LaPorte, he married Karen (DeLisle) Lile, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Christina (Adam) Howland of LaPorte; son, Frankie (Valerie) Lile Jr. of LaPorte; mother, Virginia Bates of Kingsbury, IN; grandchild, Ryleigh Lile of LaPorte; brother, Jeff Lile; six sisters, Connie Lile, Pattie (Bob) Young, Lorie Smutzer, Paula (Bill) Stowe, Darla Bates, and LeeAnn (Norm) Daisy; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Thursday, April 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no services. Cremation will take place.
