The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Truman. The unanimous passage of the bill signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning.
Locally, the Potawatomi District of the Boy Scouts of America has 41 local charter partners and serves over 1,000 youth members with hundreds of local adult volunteers in LaPorte, Starke and Berrien counties through the LaSalle Council.
