Winners of the LaPorte County Historical Society’s Historic Structures Photo Contest have been announced:
– First place: John Cruz, for his photo of First Congregational Church in Michigan City.
– Second place: Laura Niemiec, for her photo of the Michigan City Lighthouse at sunset.
– Third place: Jamie Huss, for her photo of the observation tower in Washington Park in Michigan City.
The contest was held in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Winning entries were sent to Indianapolis to be judged at the state level. At that judging, Niemiec’s photo was chosen as Best Artistic.
Photo entries were judged locally by photographer Bob Wellinski, LaPorte County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz, and South Central School art teacher Dori Huber.
All 21 of the LaPorte County photo entries will be on display at the museum through the end of May.
