voteListed below are the candidates in the May 6, 2014, primary election. The winners of these Democratic and Republican primary elections (some are unopposed) will move on to the Nov. 4, 2014, general election. (Besides GOP and Democratic candidates, the Nov. 4 ballot will include any Independent and Libertarian candidates.)

This year’s primary and general elections involve numerous LaPorte County offices, as well as some state and federal offices. Depending on where you live, you may also have some township races on your ballot.

In the May 6 primary election, you may select either a Republican or a Democratic ballot. Regardless of your party affiliation (or lack thereof), you can choose either ballot.

You must be a registered voter to vote in any election. The deadline for voter registration has passed for the May 6 primary; however, registration is open from May 20 to Oct. 6 for the Nov. 4 general election. Register at www.indianavoters.com.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 6. To find your polling place, call the LaPorte County Voter Registration Office at 219-326-6808 Ext. 2242 or 2250.
