An interactive Mystery Dinner Theatre presentation, “The Last Will and Testament of a Millionaire,” will be presented at Ignoffo’s restaurant at the corner of Lincolnway and Monroe Street in LaPorte, on May 18 and 25.

The mystery’s premise: Many years ago there was a long-running television show based on the hobby of John Beresford Tipton, who actually gave away large sums of money to total strangers. His generosity totaled over $200 million. Tipton’s love of the game of chess inspired him to give away fortunes and then observe the results of his intervention, be it good or bad. He dispensed his money with but one stipulation: that no attempt be made to find out who he was, or the remaining money would be forfeited.

Attendees of the mystery dinner may find that they have inherited something from Tipton’s vast estate!

Tipton was probably the most famous television character who was never seen on a show. There was a reason for that. The real Mr. Tipton, who recently passed away at the age of 92, liked to visit small towns like LaPorte, always in disguise, and meet average people who might be the next recipient of his benevolence.

Price of this fun event is $40 per person. Action will commence with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m., and a buffet dinner will be served at 7 p.m. No one will be seated after the serving begins. At 8 p.m. the theater portion of the evening will begin with the official reading of Tipton’s will.

Reservations are suggested. Call 219-575-7399 for further information and reservations.
