2011 LaPorte High School graduate Emily Metheny, who will begin her senior year at Franklin College, Franklin, IN, in fall 2014, has been honored with the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship.
Emily’s major is journalism with a public relations multimedia specialty, and she is minoring in Spanish and leadership.
Besides the Pulliam Fellowship, she was recently honored with the Tonya Lee Memorial Scholarship and the Mary H. Craig Memorial Scholarship for her work in journalism.
Emily was inducted this year into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honorary Society and the Chi Alpha Sigma Athlete Honorary Society. She is consistently on the Dean’s List at Franklin College.
Emily is also a member of the Franklin College Swim/Dive Team. In 2014, the ladies’ team placed 2nd and the men’s team 1st at the Liberal Arts Championships.
Emily’s philanthropic focus has been with the Franklin College chapters of St. Jude’s Research Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. She’s a reporter/editor for The Franklin college newspaper and some of her stories have been published in major Indiana newspapers.
Emily’s Parents are Ronnie and Jeri Metheny of LaPorte, and her brother is Matt Metheny. Her grandparents are Mary Louise Metheny (and the late Donald), Ron Ulrich (and the late Helen), and Carol Clark, all of LaPorte.
