While the playing spots are all filled, sponsorship and donation opportunities are still available for the Play for Jake Foundation’s 1st annual Golf Outing on Saturday, June 28, at Legacy Hills Golf Course, 299 W. Johnson Rd.
The foundation was created to raise funds and awareness to prevent cardiac arrest in school-aged children via screenings and educational material. Jake was a LaPorte High School junior who collapsed and died during football practice at Kiwanis Field on Sept. 25, 2013. It was discovered that Jake died of a heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia, which cannot be detected without proper testing.
