The board of LaPorte Lions met May 13, 2013, at Western Inn. Boss Lion Oscar Ryl-Kuchar asked Dave Ebert to offer prayer. Sandra Provan read the minutes of the April 18 board meeting, which were approved. She said officer training will be May 22 at 7 p.m. at Westville High School.
John Spiggle gave the financial report, which was approved. The board approved paying an extra $100 for a double brick to honor the club’s four past district governors from the Indiana Lions Foundation.
Dom Liberatore gave the Lions Alert financial report, which was approved.
The board approved Ryl-Kuchar’s proposal to donate $250 to eight LaPorte elementary school libraries. A motion to donate $100 to Newtown, Conn., Lions for counseling for those affected by the shooting at Sandy Hook School was approved. The board approved reducing annual dues to $60 for all members for one year and to put 10 percent of Lions Alert donations to the club into the Administrative Fund.
Dave Ebert passed around a sign-up sheet for Candy Days June 21 and 22. Fair Project committee members will be Paul Marsh, Doug Buell, Dwight Graham, Tom Ruda and Ryl-Kuchar.
Spiggle said he has completed the entry form for the 4th of July Parade. Maple City Lions will be asked about continued sponsorship of the Lions sign at Scharf Field. The Zone 25A Cabinet meeting will be June 2 at Lake of the Four Seasons, Crown Point.
The next regular meeting will be May 20.
