July 7, 1914 – Gasoline may be displaced. A Pennsylvania man claims to have invented a new fluid as a substitute for gasoline.
July 7, 1964 – The Senate Labor Committee approves President Johnson’s anti-poverty bill. Only Sen. Barry Goldwater and his close supporter Sen. John G. Tower vote against it.
July 7, 1989 – The government imposes a ban on asbestos that will be phased in over seven years.
