Bring the whole family to enjoy music, food, games and more and support a great cause at the same time at the LaPorte Fire Department’s Rock the Park 2014 on Saturday, July 19, at Fox Park.
The day will include:
– A cornhole tournament starting at 10 a.m.
– Visiting animals from Washington Park Zoo, including a tarantula, an alligator, a goat, a parrot and ducks.
– Music starting at 3 p.m. at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater, featuring the bands High Noon at 3, Where’s Johnny at 5, Point ‘n Fingers at 7, and Justified to end the evening. The event will be emceed by local comedian Ben Konowitz, co-owner of The Drop Comedy Club.
– Carbon monoxide detector giveaways and CO awareness information from The Lindsey O’Brien Kesling Wishing Tree Foundation.
– For the kids, professional face painting and jumpy houses by Bump ‘n’ Jump Playhouse.
– Food vendors, including Burek’s corn on the cob and soft-serve ice cream, Papa John’s pizza, and ribeye steak sandwiches served up by the LaPorte Fire Department.
– For the adults, a beer garden with mixed drinks and margaritas.
Tickets are $5 per adult; kids enter for free! WCOE 96.7 the Eagle will be giving away tickets all week long leading up to the event. Tickets are also available at all LaPorte fire stations — 18th Street, Pine Lake Avenue and Boyd Boulevard.
