Me & the Boys

It sounds like the weather will be lovely (but you might want to bring a sweater) for Thursday’s Arts in the Park concert featuring Me & The Boys at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park.

The free concert starts at 7 p.m., but come early to enjoy poetry by Mary Allen and artwork by Dorothy Konieczny and local young artists.

Me & The Boys, a popular Arts in the Park returnee, features a big-band sound and jazz from the 1930s through the 1950s. Mary Kay Steele is the “Me,” providing vocals, and “The Boys” who will play for her are Peter Steele on piano, John Trimmel on trumpet, Jack Collings on bass and Norm Garbacik on drums and vocals. Their presentations will include favorites by Gershwin, Arlen, Miller and Ellington, as well as songs made famous by Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra. You’re welcome to join in the spirit by dancing in front of the stage.

Poppin’ in the Park concessions will be provided by Tri Kappa Associates.
