July 28, 1914 – Mrs. Frank Shook says her husband shook her. For some reason she surmises he went to Michigan City and had a lady companion with him.

July 28, 1964 – Four American officers are killed by Communist mines and bullets in two separate incidents.

July 28, 1989 – The U.S. lung cancer death rate increases by 15%.

July 28, 2004 – Dean Heise, LaPorte’s 26-year park superintendent, opts for the Civic Auditorium post.
