Aug. 6, 1914 – Mrs. Woodrow Wilson is failing and very little hope is entertained for the recovery of the First Lady of the land.

Aug. 6, 1964 – President Johnson’s “fight-if-we-must” resolution on Vietnam wins approval from Senate and House committees.

Aug. 6, 1989 – The state must pay $14 million to 7,419 former Beatty Hospital patients for their labor since it cannot extract unpaid work from mental patients.

Aug. 6, 2004 – The NCAA approves tighter recruiting rules.
