The LaPorte Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) met Aug. 12, 2014, at the home of Yvonne Lindborg for a potluck dinner. Special guest was Johnna Belkewitz, winner of the Prominent Women of Indiana essay contest. After dinner Johnna read her essay on Ida Husted Harper, who wrote the only authorized biography of Susan B. Anthony. Anthony chose Harper to be the author.
President Beth Le Roy conducted the business meeting, Pam Dishman gave the treasurer’s report and Mary Heath read the minutes. The group discussed fundraising ideas and decided to produce a cookbook. Members are asked to gather their favorite recipes, not only their own, but those of family and friends. The branch will be working on this project in the upcoming year. Recipes are to be sent to Dishman.
