New LaPorte Fire Department members Chad Salyer and Nick Palmer were sworn in at the Wayne County Fire Academy on Aug. 22, 2014.
Salyer and Palmer underwent EMT, firefighting and Hazmat training at the Indianapolis and Wayne County fire academies.
Both were sworn in by LaPorte Fire Chief Andy Snyder and were pinned by their wives, Kelli Salyer and Liz Palmer.
