LaPorte’s memory of Crown Point’s Dog Dome goes back to the teams’ last match of 2013 when they fell to the Bulldogs in the Sectionals 16-14. But united by their seniors, LaPorte’s Orange and Black went on the attack to defeat the Bulldogs in a classic five-game match Aug. 28, 2014.
The scores: 25-14, 23-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-11. It was the DAC opener for both teams.
Senior setter Alyssa Kvarta almost rescued the Dogs in a daredevil display of confidence and superior talent. But the Slicers had their own starts and came up with just enough strong plays to answer the charge of Coach Erin Parker for her seniors to lead.
For LaPorte, Natalie Santana led in kills with 19, Bayli Lebo led in digs with 22, and McKenzie Haite served 2 aces and had 41 set assists.
LaPorte will host Michigan City Sept. 4 starting at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym.
