Sept. 19, 1914 – George Mandeville has been missing since his mother’s death. Since he was melancholy, it is feared that he might be lying in one of the lakes or hidden in some clump of bushes.
Sept. 19, 1964 – LaPorte’s newest industrial facility, Whirlpool’s parts center, will be open to the public tomorrow from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at its east-side location.
Sept. 19, 1989 – LaPorte Police Chief Allen Ott resigns, announcing he has accepted a job offer with the Hoosier Lottery.
Sept. 19, 2004 – More than a week after an 8-year-old was taken from her home on LaPorte’s east side, her abductor is still at large.
