The LaPorte High School Marching Band received a Gold Division Rating at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic A Class State Prelims held Oct. 11, 2014, at Homestead High School, and now advances to the Scholastic Class State Finals. The band also received the designation of “With Distinction” for its high scores in both general effect and visual performance.
Besides the Slicers, these Scholastic A Class bands qualified for the finals: Mt. Vernon, New Prairie, Columbia City, Evansville Central, Columbus East, Terre Haute South, Terre Haute North, Zionsville, Chesterton, Portage, Bishop Dwenger, Warren Central, Huntington North, Perry Meridian, John Adams, Franklin, Jeffersonville, Warsaw, and Snider.
The ISSMA Scholastic Class State Finals will be held Oct. 25 at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. LaPorte will perform at about 4 p.m. LaPorte time. Complete schedules are available at www.issma.net.
