Information and photos submitted by LaPorte County Historical Society

A tremendous part of LaPorte’s valuable history is recorded in photographs, dating back to the earliest years of picture taking.

As part of Family History Month, LaPorte County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz will present a program about local photographers and the importance of the images they recorded on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum, 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte.

The program is free; admission of just a few dollars to the museum will be requested. The museum is handicapped accessible.

In this era of digital photos, remember that preserving them in various forms, including print, is vital to recording history.

For more information about the society and its museum, visit www.laportecountyhistory.org, email info@laportecountyhistory.org and call (219) 324-6767.
