The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division is launching a new social-media program to apprehend criminals: Wanted Fugitive of the Week. This week the sheriff’s office releases information on Gregory A. Downey.
Downey, 33, is wanted out of LaPorte Circuit Court for dealing scheduled drugs, a Class B felony. He has tattoos on either side of his neck.
Anyone with information on Downey is asked to call 911 or the Warrants Division and give a confidential tip. Warrants Division Sgt. Harlan Williams may also be contacted at 219-326-7700 ext. 2595.
“This program highlights our desire to build a partnership between local law enforcement and our community so that we can seek out these wanted persons,” said Sheriff’s Major John Boyd. “Together we have a vested interest in bringing these individuals to justice. We currently have over 6,000 active arrest warrants in LaPorte County. Programs such as these, along with other solutions, will help us reduce these numbers, ultimately making our communities safer.”
