On Saturday, June 1, from 9 to 11 a.m., bring the family out to Luhr County Park for Kids’ Fishing Fun Day. This is a free event! When you cast a fishing line with kids, you catch more than fish. It can be a time to slow down, enjoy the outdoors and catch up with family.
Luhr Park is located at 3178 S. County Road 150 West in LaPorte.
At this LaPorte County Parks event, kids will learn the basics of fishing, said Laura Moyer, recreation and education programmer. The event is co-sponsored by the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders. No pre-registration is required. In addition, adults can fish for free without a license in Indiana this weekend only. Kids will also have an opportunity to win prizes!
Come a little early and join a free nature hike to celebrate National Trails Day from 8 to 9 a.m. Meet at the Luhr Park Nature Center.
