Oct. 28, 1914 – The first meeting of any nature to take place in the basement of LaPorte’s First National Bank building is the October meeting of the Merchants Bureau.

Oct. 28, 1964 – The men who ousted Nikita S. Khrushchev have voted to split “forever” the posts of Communist Party leader and government premier.

Oct. 28, 1989 – The LaPorte County Health Department loses a bid to stop drains that send street surface water into Lily Lake.
