The board of the Youth Service Bureau (YSB) met Oct. 15, 2014, in the LaPorte office. President Jennifer Solner conducted the business meeting. Minutes were approved as read and the budget for 2015 was approved.
Members reviewed the Teen Court program, which gives young adults an opportunity to review infractions committed by other young adults in a mock trial setting. The students are judge, jury, and offender. Each case is presented and punishment is meted out.
The comedy show fundraiser is set for Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. at Best Western Inn. It will feature Mike Armstrong, known as the ex-cop on the Bob and Tom show, and Keith McGill, who appeared on BET and the Bob and Tom show. Tickets are available at Kabelin Ace Hardware in LaPorte and Michigan City, and the YSB offices in LaPorte and Michigan City. Tickets are $25 ahead of time or $30 at the door.
YSB provides services to help youths and their families resolve problems, improve relationships, and make responsible decisions to divert them from the juvenile justice system and guide them in fulfilling their educational potential so they may develop into productive, law-abiding adults.
