The LaPorte County Republican Party will hold a caucus Saturday, Dec. 13, to fill a LaPorte City Council At-Large seat. Current City
Council At-Large member Cary Kirkham was elected in November to the position of 4th District LaPorte County councilman. As of Jan. 1, his city council seat will be vacated.
“Cary has brought integrity and sound decision-making to the LaPorte City Council and we are grateful that voters have put him in a position to do the same for the County Council,” county GOP Chairman Michael Gonder said in a press release.
Those interested in filling the city council seat must be a resident of the City of LaPorte, have voted Republican in the most recent primary election in which they voted, or have a special exemption by the county Republican chair.

The necessary forms to file are available at GOP Headquarters, 814 Jefferson Ave., LaPorte, and at the LaPorte County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse. These forms must be signed, notarized and delivered to Gonder at least 72 hours before the day of the Dec. 13 caucus.
