Richard Piotrowicz, 1939-2014

Mr. Richard N. Piotrowicz, 75, of North Liberty, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN.

He was born Nov. 10, 1939, in LaPorte to Ferdinand and Francis (Novak) Piotrowicz.

Richard had been dock worker for Shippers & Ashland Chemical. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard received a degree from IUSB. He coached in and ran the youth league in North Liberty. He enjoyed fishing and collecting Indian artifacts, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

On Dec. 16, 1960, in Illinois, he married Virginia “Ginny” (Carlson) Piotrowicz, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Scott (April) Piotrowicz of North Liberty and Brian (Terri) Piotrowicz of Lake In The Hills, IL; two daughters, Robin (Roberto) Paz of Covington, LA, and Kay Piotrowicz of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Adam Piotrowicz, Kelsey Odell, Elizabeth Paz, Maria Paz, Richard Straight, and Ashley Cosamento; two great-grandchildren, Callie and Kaiden; two half-brothers, Kenny and Brad; one half-sister, Suzie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 2 p.m. A life celebration will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, IN.
