LaPorte and LaPorte County officers apprehended two brothers shortly after they reportedly wielded and possibly fired a gun while robbing the LaPorte KFC on Thursday night, Jan. 8, 2015.
Giancarlo Pons, 21, and Kevin Pons, 20, both of LaPorte, are charged with Robbery With a Deadly Weapon, a Level 3 felony, after they reportedly entered the restaurant at 213 Pine Lake Ave. at about 8:30 p.m. Witnesses said a handgun was displayed and shots were possibly fired, according to a LaPorte Police report.
The men went into the office area and stole a large amount of cash while pointing the handgun at employees, then fled on foot.
Police, including LaPorte County Service Dog Hokie, tracked the suspects to the former Allis-Chalmers property within minutes of the call. They were taken into custody without incident. No other injuries were reported.
