Kurt Pinkepank, 1935-2015

Kurt G. PinkepankKurt G. Pinkepank, 79, of LaPorte, died peacefully at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City, IN.

He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Hildesheim, Germany, to Karl Gustav and Ida (Rollwage) Pinkepank.

Kurt worked for Industrial Pattern Works for 38-plus years. He was a member of First Freewill Church of LaPorte. Kurt enjoyed playing soccer and was a great soccer fan. He loved, lived, and worked for his family but never for himself. Kurt was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

On Dec. 26, 1964, at Missionary Baptist Church in LaPorte, he married his wife of 50 years, Vivian (Wireman) Pinkepank, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Adena (William) Shanahan of LaPorte and Rebecca Gogan of Ohio; two sisters, Ingrid Lenk of Athens, TX, and Hildegard Gessler of Germany; five grandchildren, Craig (McKenzie), Amanda (Matthew), Kristy, Kurt, and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren, Alyvia, Nora, Grace, Jordan, Carter, Brayden, Tristen, Cohen, and Grayson; three nephews, Frank and Norm Pinkepank, both of LaPorte, and Michael Lenk of Ohio; and two nieces, Deborah Lenk of Texas and Sigrid McMahan of LaPorte.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Fritz and Karl Pinkepank; and two sisters.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, with Verlin Combs officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., LaPorte, IN 46350.
