LaPorte Lions met Jan. 5, 2015, at LaPorte Chamber of Commerce. Vice President Paul Marsh led the Pledge of Allegiance and Sandra Provan offered prayer.
The first item was discussion on a new meeting place since B&J’s American Café is closed until a new owner is found. Members will be notified by email that the board meeting Jan. 12 at the Chamber of Commerce will include making a decision on the new meeting place; all Lions are encouraged to attend.
New Business: The District 25A Convention will be at Best Western Hotel in LaPorte March 13 and 14. The secretary will check whether the club has any 50-year members.
LaPorte High School scholarship applications will be available for pickup at the school March 2. Tom Ruda will chair the committee with Doug Buell and Dwight Graham assisting.
George Royster, Rita Mrozinski and Marsh will pick up donated eyeglasses; Graham will check the box at his church.
The next regular meeting will be Jan. 19, when the speaker will be Thor Thordarson from IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
