LaPorte Lions action, Jan. 19, 2015

LaPorte Lions met Jan. 19, 2015, at Best Western Hotel. Vice President Paul Marsh led the Pledge of Allegiance and Sandra Provan offered prayer. Guest speaker Russ Klosinski, president of Rebuilding Together LaPorte County, talked about the organization that renovates homes for people unable to do it themselves. The first work day will be May 9.
Correspondence: A thank-you letter was received from LaPorte City Park Foundation for the Lions’ donation.
Committee reports: Jim Day said the zone golf tournament will be May 22 at Beechwood Golf Course; sponsors are needed. Day and Dwight Graham will both be away at the next golf committee meeting; Oscar Ryl-Kuchar will attend.
Lions Alert: More new units are needed. The Comcast WiFi modems are causing problems. A motion to buy five new units was approved.
The Lions will conduct a new member installation at the District 25A Convention March 14 at LaPorte Best Western. Ryl-Kuchar and Provan volunteered to participate.
The death of former Lion Mike Lisak was noted.
New Business: Ryl-Kuchar said Marsh received a ring from LaPorte Moose for his service. Tailtwister Ken Schnable brought in $8.
The next meeting will be Feb. 2 at Best Western.
