Zelma L. Rice, 86, of New Carlisle, IN, and formerly of LaPorte, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Advance, MO, to Robert D. and Julia (Ayles) Harris.
Zelma was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, National Home-VFW, and American Legion Auxiliary.
On Nov. 25, 1971, in South Bend, IN, she married Joe D. Rice, who preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
