Don’t send that lumber/fixture/appliance to a landfill; Habitat for Humanity wants it

restore (2)Spring cleaning and spruce-up time. Got some extra lumber in your garage? Kitchen cabinets or ceiling fans you removed and chucked in the basement? A “beer fridge” that, as it turns out, you don’t use so much? Habitat for Humanity will take all that and more. And you can find things to purchase there, too.

The local Habitat for Humanity ReStore is located at the corner of 10th and Huron streets in Michigan City. The goods you donate there will be used in local Habitat projects that provide affordable homes for low- to moderate-income families in LaPorte County.

Donations from individuals, contractors and stores can be brought to the ReStore Thursdays through Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or off hours by prior arrangement. Pickups can be scheduled for larger items.

New and gently used items featured at ReStore include: major appliances in working condition, flooring, paint, furniture, countertops and cabinets, plumbing fixtures and components, hardware, electrical fixtures and lighting, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, hand and power tools, fencing and decking material, doors and windows, lumber, drywall, masonry, sheeting, antiques, curios, and collectibles.

Support Habitat for Humanity by donating to and/or purchasing from the ReStore, which offers items at discounted prices. Profits are used to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

For more information and if you are interested in volunteering at the ReStore, call Dan at 219-814-4985 and visit http://laportehabitat.org/Restore/
