LaPorte County Public Library is offering a Spring Break Art Camp at the main library on April 6, 8 and 10. Each day’s activities will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. Kids will learn about a different artist each day of camp and try their hand at the artist’s style of art!

— On Monday, April 6, kids will learn about the “Prince of Pop,” Andy Warhol, and make their own renditions of Soup Can Pop Art.

— On Wednesday, April 8, kids will learn about famed glass artist Chihuly. They will make a bowl-shaped form call Macchia out of a coffee filter, which will replicate Chihuly’s glass works.

— On Friday, April 10, the work of abstract artist Jackson Pollock will be discussed and kids will experiment in splatter painting with tennis balls and a kiddie pool to create their masterpiece.

The Library is pleased to offer children a chance to improve motor skills, language development, decision making, visual learning, inventiveness, cultural awareness, and improved academic performance, all while having fun through these classes.
