April 8, 1915 — Greetings are extended to Clifford W. Petitt, new secretary of the LaPorte YMCA, who came here from Lafayette.

April 8, 1965 — The LaPorte board of public works names two east-side streets Berkel Drive and Whirlpool Drive after the thriving corporations that grace them.

April 8, 1990 — The nation mourns the death of Ryan White, the Indiana youth who helped the understanding of AIDS.

April 8, 2005 — Pope John Paul II is buried today.
