John R. Graber Jr., 56, of LaPorte, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN.
He was born Jan. 26, 1959, in Elkhart, IN, to John R. and Ruth (Cripe) Graber.
John graduated from Purdue University and worked as a mechanical engineer for companies including Sullair, Delta Machining and Leybold Vacuum. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and tennis. He rooted for Purdue and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved motorcycles, playing euchre, and music. He was a great storyteller and had an infectious laugh. He loved his family immensely and will be greatly missed.
On May 31, 1986, in LaPorte, he married Laura Luther, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved daughters, Mandy, Megan, Moriah and Maris Graber, all of LaPorte; grandson, Benjamin Graber; father, John R. (Betty) Graber; brother, Steve (Cindy) Graber of Elkhart; nephew, Steve Graber Jr.; niece, Christy Graber; and numerous extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Graber.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5 p.m. CDT Monday, April 13, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 1 p.m. CDT until the service. Cremation will take place following the service.
