A Laguna Beach, CA, native. An English major. A first lady. A dance enthusiast. A glitter queen. A chef to the LaPorte stars. A former sports guy — and let’s just say he LOVED playing cops and robbers as a kid.
These mystery guests’ common thread: They’ll all compete in the LaPorte County Family YMCA’s Dancing Like a Star competition May 22. This fun event, a fundraiser for the Y’s new Michigan City branch, will take place May 22 at Blue Chip Casino.
The stars’ names will be revealed April 20. Before then, visit the La Porte County Family YMCA page on Facebook to give your best guesses as to their identities. Hints and teasers will be posted daily!
Tickets for the May 22 event are available at the LaPorte, Long Beach and Michigan City Elston branches of the YMCA; online at www.lpymca.org; and over the phone at (219) 325-9622, (219) 879-1395 or (219) 221-4055.
The festivities will start at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by a 6:45 p.m. dinner and the 2015 Stars performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Dimensions School of Social Dance instructors will perform during the program intermission. The event will be hosted by comedian Taralynn and chair dancer Ben Fout.
The People’s Choice awards are determined by the number of “votes” received by each celebrity. Votes may be purchased for $5 each by contacting the contestant of your choice. Voting closes at the event after all contestants have performed.
Every vote raises money to support the LaPorte County Family YMCA Michigan City Elston Branch Scholarship Fund. For more information, call Dana Gaul at 219-325-9622.
