The Slicer JV baseball team improved its record to 11-1 with a 6-1 victory (3-0 DAC) on the road against Michigan City April 20, 2015. The team has now strung together 9 straight wins.
The game was played in poor weather with gusting winds and cold temperatures, and was called at the end of 6 innings.
Andy Samuelson got the start on the bump and pitched a masterful game. He allowed only an unearned run, with 9 strikeouts, 4 hits and 3 walks. With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the 6th, Samuelson induced a pop up and then struck out the last 2 batters to earn the victory. Austin Botsford was on base 4 times, stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs. Chandler Banic had 2 hits with an RBI and a scored run. Will Malekovic had a hit and an RBI. Samuelson helped his own cause with 2 hits, 2 RBI and scored a run while stealing a base. Nolen Lorenz added 2 hits with an RBI.
The Slicer JV’s next game will be Wednesday at Clarke Park against Portage. Game time is 4:30.
