Janet L. Goad, 75, of Union Mills, IN, died Saturday April 25, 2015, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
She was born March 4, 1940, in Macomb, IL, to Harold and Dorothy (Davis) Emmons.
Janet was a business owner and worked with her husband in the Amway industry for many years. She was also a former Noble Township trustee. Janet was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Union Mills Lions Club, Loose Threads Quilters Club, and Noble Township Homemakers Club. She was a very talented craft bear maker, quilter and avid reader. A selfless person, Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will always be missed, loved and remembered well.
On Jan. 30, 1960, she married Raymond “Gene” Goad, who survives.
Also surviving are her beloved children, Nile Goad of Thomasville, NC, Jeff Goad of Lompoc, CA, Teri (Bill) Zechiel of Plymouth, IN, and Mary Beth (Jim) Meyers of Union Mills; four grandchildren, Matthew (Cristi) Goad, TJ Meyers, Rebekah Meyers and Samantha Zechiel; a great-grandson and two great-granddaughters on the way; three siblings, Richard Emmons, Cathy Middleton and John Emmons; and her stepmom, Esther Emmons.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Union Mills, with Pastor John Beehler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and from 2 p.m. until the service Sunday. Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.
