April 27, 1915 — Industries of LaPorte are booming. The newest, the LaPorte Outing Sulky Company, now employs 78 and orders for baby buggies are piling up so a night shift has been employed.

April 27, 1965 — The Supreme Court rules unconstitutional Virginia’s requirement of a certificate of residency for voting in a federal election.

April 27, 1990 — Residents discuss the EPA’s incineration plan to clean up the Fisher-Calo site in Kingsbury.

April 27, 2005 — No news has emerged regarding the abduction of LaPorte’s Jeffrey Ake in Iraq, but his home at 400 Closser Ave. went up for sale over the weekend.
