Is your son’s or daughter’s head in the clouds? Help them take advantage of that interest by enrolling them in the LaPorte Municipal Airport’s Aviation Camp for youths. The camp will take place Wednesday, June 17, through Friday, June 19.
The camp, for youths in 4th through 12th grade, will include these activities:
— The Kalamazoo Air Zoo will instruct 4th–8th-grade classes in Flight Science and Rocket Science.
— Flight instructors from the local flight school will provide the 9th–12th-grades with introductory ground school.
— Plymouth Sky Sports will parachute in for the high school group, discuss the aeronautics behind sky-jumping, and demonstrate how to pack a parachute.
— On Friday, June 19, all students will board a charter bus at 8 a.m. and depart for the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Younger grades will attend classes such as Life in Space and Aviation Design. The high school group will tour the museum’s Restoration Center and attend an Aeronautical Engineering class.
— Each student will receive a flight courtesy of local Aero Club members.
Cost for the camp is only $50! Class times are: 4th-5th grades, 9-11:30 a.m.; 6th-8th grades, noon–2:30 p.m.; 9th–12th grades, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
